As part of its celebration of the nation’s bicentennial in 1976, Delaware’s Revolution Bicentennial Commission formed the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame. With University of Delaware football coach “Tubby” Raymond as its chair, the committee welcomed its first set of inductees in April 1976.

In January 1993, the Delaware Sports Authority allocated 2600 square feet for a permanent home for the Hall of Fame in the new Minor League Daniel Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Delaware.
