Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame

The Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame, located in beautiful Goshen, NY, just 75 miles north of New York City. The Museum, formed in 1951, closed in June of 1996 as part of an ambitious $6 million renovation and expansion project to update and
revitalize the institution. The internationally recognized Hall of Fame for Harness Racing now boasts several interactive exhibits as well as two theaters – “At The Gate”, an introduction to the sport and “Harness Racing in Hollywood”, an entertaining look at harness racing in the movies. The Living Hall of Fame and Hall of the Immortals now have CD ROM encyclopedias, displaying a photo and bio of each inductee with just a touch of the fingertip.

Visitors can learn to buy a horse at our auction exhibit and visit our talking horse. There’s a life-sized horse in harness so visitors of all ages can feel what it’s like to sit in a sulky. You can try to call a race like a track announcer and listen to your results with the audio playback. But the best part is “The Thrill of Harness Racing 3-D Simulator” where you feel all the excitement and thrills of being in a race! And our Winner’s Circle Gift Shop has a wonderful selection of new
merchandise for your shopping convenience.
